Oil Change: How often?
Owner's manual says 7,500 miles. Anyone agree with that? Most of my driving is city, with the occasional road trip or pulling a few thousand pounds.

Tad

For city driving, the manual says 3750. for highway, yes, you can go 7500. just keep in mind that this is a gloriously general recommendation that protects DC against the majority of warranty claims across the broad range of driving habbits and conditions.

I DO MINE AT 5000 AND ABOUT 50/50 CITY/HIGHWAY MILES. I USUALLY SMELL MINE WHEN I GET FUEL AND CK THE LEVEL. IF IT SMELLS KINDA BURNT I CHANGE IT EARLY. IT USUALLY WILL GO THE FULL 5000 MILES THOUGH. IT ONLY SMELLS BURNT IF I DO ALOT OF TOWING OR OFFROAD DRIVING.

Mines got around 6800 miles now, it has had 3 oil changes. The first one at 1200. Its due for it next one at 8200. That might be a little over kill, but it give peace of mind on a new motor ;D

I do 85% highway and 15% city driving, so I go with the 5000 mi interval with Rotella T and an LF 3894 Stratopore.

Besides, I don't feel comfortable letting Dino oil run 7500 mi.

Delo and Fleetguard Statapores for oil and filter. Same here as Fishin'deep, I drop it every 5K and every oil analisys I've done says it's overkill, I drive about 75% highway/25% city.

Glenn

I've got 6800 miles on mine and plan on changing every 5000. 8) How/where do you guys get Oil Analysis to test your oil? Is that when you take a few swigs and see if it sticks to your tounge? .

Jones,

I don't do the taste test myself but I'm sure some do! I use blackstone labs for analysis. Just ask them for a free sample kit. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/index.html
