I did my first oil change when I had 2500 miles on the truck. I will now do them every 7500 miles. If you do the deletes you could probably go further and it would be cleaner oil when removed. I have a buddy that has a 1996 CTD, has put 100,000 miles on it since he has owned it, and has never performed an oil change. I KNOW, CRAZY!! But the truck runs like a champ. All he has to do is add oil.

If your worried about maintaining the factory warranty, document your oil changes in compliance with factory specs.

New filter and oil every 5,000 miles along with an oil analysis after doing my deletes. Before that they were anywhere from 3,500 to 4,800 miles depending on if I towed my 5er during the summer months.

Oil is cheap a Diesel engine is not.

On another note fuel filters (2) every 10,000 miles. One is a 5 micron and the other is a 2 micron filter.

The problem is not so much the amount of mileage your putting on the truck. It's the evic that flashes me a warning every 4,300 miles "oil change due". The manual says every 7K (i think) or when oil change due warning comes on.
This warning seems to be related to the type of driving we do. It supposedly measures the amout of fuel in the oil number of regens ect. But my last oil change I changed the oil before I got the evic warning. 400 miles later I got the warning and just reset it. But I figured with fresh oil I shouldn't have got the message. I even tried to do the rest without a active warning. So now my routine will be change the oil every 4K and fuel filter every other oil change. It really is cheap insurance and remember to keep a log and your receipts.

You can keep the muffler because it's a straight through design like most after market diesel mufflers. If you deleted the DPF (last cat) and do an egr delete yes your oil would last much long with out fuel or exhaust contaminates being added to your oil.

After I read this I downloaded the owners manual and looked at the service intervals section. Each interval has a place for "Work Order Nummber" and "Signature Authorized Chrysler Dealer" to sign off.

Does this mean that I'll have a potential warrenty problem if I (my son really) do my own basic services?

There is no point in removing the DPF without removing the NOX canister. Removing either one has the potential to void your warranty.

Why such frequent fuel filter changes?

Possibly, and yes.

They cannot give you any issues if you do your own servicing and record such.

Ditto...& I change the fuel filter and air filter at the same time as the oil.

lubricants & filters are cheap compared to engines & driveline parts.
