The early 6 speeds had some synchro troubles, I have one out of a 99, would replacement parts from mopar be better than the originals? In other words have they fixed the problem. I'm wondering what the offending part is, i'm guessing it's the cone, I believe that's the part that has a lining on the inside of it.

Here's some information from an earlier thread on this forum:
"The NV5600 transmission has seen some improvements on the fiction material that is used on the synchronizer friction rings (inner blocker rings). There was a material change that took effect on the 2002 MY transmission. This change was to the improve durability of the synchronizer friction material."
This quote was from an e-mail from Michael Machett of New Venture Gear and Brett DeWees of Manual Transmissions of Muncie, Indiana, LLC.
Apparently they changed the metallurgy.
