nv4500 clutch problems

nv4500 clutch problems

drove my truck to work yesterday, was shifting fine by the time i got there the clutch acted like it wasnt working, couldnt get to go in any gear unless i shut it off. the truck has been shuttering when i take off every once in a while but not all the time. i have 192000 on the factory clutch any info would be great. its a 2002, 2500,4x4

Could simply be the master or slave cylinder. Have someone push on the clutch (truck not running) and with you underneath the truck, see if the slave is pushing on the throwout bearing arm. If it is then your clutch assembly needs attention and you're going to have to pull the tranny. But no matter because if you find that its anything which requires pulling the tranny then I'd suggest replacing everything clutch related with that many miles on the truck.

pulled the tranny and found the problem to be the center of the clutch had broke out due to the pilot bearing being gone.Replaced everything works great now.

Great. Thanks for the update. And just incase you didn't already know, holding in the clutch during stop lights or when just sitting still is horribly bad for the throwout bearing and the pilot bushing. Aftermarket pilots are usually needle bearings instead of bushings to handle more stress.
