How did you hook up the linkage to the t-case? The 271 I have doesn't have an arm or anything for engaging 4x4, but you can see where it goes. I'm hoping the one from the 241 will fit on there when I go to install it.

the front drive shaft will hook up just fine. the rear shaft will need a new slip yoke b/c the output on the 271 is much bigger. the rear shaft will need to be shortened. i had to take 2 1/4'' out of mine. if u need a slip yoke let me know i have the part number so u can get one from mopar. as 4 u joints use what the call for stock. the new factory slip yoke uses a bit bigger u joint (really the difference between a aam rear axle and a dana axle. not real real sure with the ally just make sure the input/outputs will mate up. i had to reverse the vaccume lines to get the center axle dissconect. to work. any other questions just ask

you will need to find a arm for a 271. just go to your local dodge dealer and fine a 3/4 ton truck with a manual shift 271 and get the vin number. then go back to parts and order one for that truck. i had to do alot of that to get the stuff i wanted i/e the slip yoke.

The 271 is still a chain drive right?
I wish there was an affordable gear drive transfer case for my truck...

Yeah... it is a right hand drop? Does it fit? 1.9 gear ratio too.

All Ford NP205's are left hand drop. Either in married or divorced setups.

Tate, I just noticed your sig:
'98 3500 4x2 Quad Cab, 24v, 5 spd, 3.55s, 100 Plate, 4k GSK, 15.5° Timing
Have you left out the P-pump or is that implied?

It's implied. When I first did it, I still had my Smarty on for speedo correction. People were asking me how I ran a 10 plate and a smarty at the same time.

I'd love to p-pump mine. Too expensive unfortunately. I think I can buy a 98.0 truck for only 50% more money...
It is neat though to run a Smarty with a p-pump
