Noisy rear end

I have just receintly noticed my rear Dana making a grumbeling noise in corners and more so when under acceleration in corners. I am not sure if my rearend uses clutch packs or cones. Any suggestions?

Change oil, different aditive? Check oil?

I am driving on stock size street tires and have aprox 120,000 miles

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Change diff lube and add two containers of antilock additive. Do slow figure eights to work lube into clutches. Evulate for week.

I just found it low and added a quart, if that dosen't clear it up, I will follow your suggestion, do you have a recommended additive?

should I have something to drink prior to the figure 8's?

The recommended additive can be found at most auto part stores. Just ask for Limited Slip Differential Additive, or Friction Modifier for Differentials. If that doesn't help my suggestion is to get a dial gauge setup and check the backlash on those gears. If its off then you probably need a rebuild.

Check your pinion and wheel seals, if you were a quart low you probably have a leak somewhere also.

I drove the truck to work this morning, and no noise. It supprised me to find it a quart low, the wheels are clean and dry as is the pinion and rear cover.

I'll have to watch it close for a while
