07 Rear End Klunk (yes, another "noisy" post)

Hi All,

I've got an 07 3500 6.7L auto, and it seems the rear end has begun making a 'klunk' noise when the rear suspension extends quickly. This would be when going over a dip in the road, coming down a speed bump, driving over a pothole, or driving off a curb. And it seems to be on extension rather than contraction of the suspension, though I can't be totally sure of that.

I found the rear mount for the muffler was disconnected for some reason, and the mounting arm could hit the frame, so thought I had it solved. After remounting the rubber bushing, it still does it. My second thought was loose sway bar mount point somewhere (exhibits just like it), but there's no sway bar on these!

I'd appreciate any thoughts/ideas/things to check!

Check the upper and lower shock mounts, spare tire might even be loose

Yep...ditto on the shock mounts....my '03 did it for a couple years after I replaced the rear shocks....finally got under there and tightened the top mounts and all is quiet now.

Thanks for the tips. I checked the top and bottom shock mounts, and they were both tightened to spec. I put another 1/4 turn on 'em and low and behold, Colonel Klunk has taken leave. Thanks for the input!
