I have a nock in the steering wheel from what i can't figure out. when i hit bumps i feel it, when i hit the throttle i feel it and when i hit the brakes also feel it. steers tight and everything is tight including the track bar which is farly new. The only thing i can find that possiably causing the problem is the steering colum were the shifting part turn by the firewall. It is a little loose and has a similar feel to it. Is the the problem and how do i fix it? This thing is driving me nutts!!!

Sounds like the lower steering column shaft bearing or the steering shaft u joint. Both are common problems on older trucks.

 

i just had the same problem with my 01. i thought the same as you guys but i was wrong. the dealer replaced the steering gear box and that solved the problems. my steering had no play in it either. they did check the colum shaft and joints and said they still feel brand new.
