Question new user need help,

Owner of a dodge 2500, truck running great, shut it down, went to crank after about 15 min hard to start, but did and ran very rough, as air in system, settled down and idled smooth, but when got over 12,000 rpms, would spit and shutter,
no power, but cranks fine now but will not go over 12,000 rpms.

1. scan for codes. 2. look for fuel leaks 3. report back. 4. don't even think about parts till you get more toward a decent diagnosis.

no lights on dash, no fuel leaks. Replaced lift pump last year, pump not bad but heard I needed to do this, replaced fuel filter, but old was not restricted.

What codes is it showing?

Do the code thing and turn the ignition on and off (without starting the engine) 3 times leaving it on the 3rd time and read the numbers displayed in the odometer.

I tried but nothing but the miles shown, I turned to crank but not starting the engine three times, each time to crank then to off, and leaving ig in on position.

I would put a scanner on it borrowed from a parts store. Key frequently doesn't mean squat. Next, check for leaks in the fuel system. Look at the hard lines and the head. Check the over flow lines and T fitting on the head. Follow the fuel lines back to the tank. If no leaks, loosen & tighten any joints that are threaded. Do you have stock LP?

Yes have stock lift pump. I changed the pump about a year ago, just because I was told I needed to do so.

Key on/off does not work on 98/99 years, only way to get the code is from a scanner.
