Ok I just bought a 2001 2500 auto with 187k miles. The owner assured me the truck was running perfectly till he pressure washed it and now it will take off with good power but up around 1800-2800 rpms it stumbles, surges and jerks. There is no steady throttle at all.

Anybody have a good starting point on this thing?

What codes is it throwing?

 

Check for water in ECM connectors, check fuel pressure.

 

The check engine light is not on but Ill have it scanned anyway. So far I have taken out some rigged up wiring and taken the edge out of the picture for the time being and gone back with the factory map setup.

What is the procedure for testing the MAP on an 01?

I you cycle the key on three times without starting it on the third time it should show a code in the odometer if one is set
