New rear main seal while tranny is out?
Just wondering if it's normal practice for most CTD guys to put in a new rear main seal while they tranny is out for clutch replacement. My father-in-law drives a semi and looked at me all confused when I told him I wasn't planning replacing it. I guess it is good insurance though. Are the seals on the 5.9 known for failing? How about the input shaft seal on the 4500?

25 + yrs of auto repair , has got me to use comin sense , any time you uncover a simple , cheap part [ rear main seal ] replace , its a good size job to replace a clutch in a 4x4 , do you really , want to do it all over , for just a $7-&12 part .
