New lift pump (long)
Re:New lift pump (long)
Truck Racer, your pressures are marginal, (but it could also be the gauge) but with no mods should be alright for the time being. Banjos will probably gain you 1-1/2 to 2psi increase across the board. As stated previously, $35 well worth it. Also, the most restrictive area is between the pump and the fuel filter. Diesel Performance of Utah makes a replacement line for about $50 that works great.
As to how long a lift pump will last? Who knows. Just keep a close watch on it. The latest version (3990105) seem to hold up better, he said, knocking on wood.

Mine truck has 60,000 miles on it and still has the original lift pump. These are my pressures, 12 @ idle, 9 @ cruise and 6 @ WOT. Are these normal? Would the larger banjo fittings be of benefit?
[move]Should I ask what the life expectancy of the lift pump is?[/move]

Some guys are on their third or fourth LP at 60K, others are still running strong on the original at double that mileage. As Roger stated, enhancements put more strain on this already weak system, but that isn't necessarily the only cause of early LP failure. Many at stock power died way too soon.
So at best it is kind of a crap shoot. Just keep an eye on the FP gauge. Your pressures seem a bit low, but not scary low yet.
