New to code reading

i just bought a 2001 ctd 3500 dually 6 speed and when i went to check the codes P ECU came up then it went blank the it said P DONE is that normal what does that mean

Actually it should have said:

P PCU
P Done
P ECU
P Done

(or the other way around, I can never remember if it does the PCM or the ECM first)

No codes, if there were, they would have flashed after the PCU but before Done, then after the ECU but before Done.

If sometime down the road you see a P-1693 and nothing else, it means you have a code but it isn't readable by the key on/off method, it needs to be scanned by the DRB Scantool at the Dodge Dealership.
