Need some help -- sluggish accel after idle
Need some help -- sluggish accel after idle
hi everyone, I am new to this forum so if there is a more appropriate place for me to post this, I apologize.
I have a 2002 2500 quad cab with a little over 120k miles on it. Not too many extras on it; a 5 inch exhaust, k&N filter, and gauges...
Lately, when the truck is hot and has been idling for a while, when you put your foot in it it bogs and is real sluggish. Will expel some blueish looking exhaust as well. My neighbor who is a mechanic says there is TSB out on it regardiing the in-tank fule pump and thinks that may be the casue. I have taken it to a Autozone and had it plugged in and is not displaying any error codes... but something is definitley not right. I pretty regularly run the fule treatment through it; especially in the winter so I doubt the injectors are clogged or anything...
If anyone has any insight for me I would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.

eichhoma,
When I was reading your 1st post I was thinking it was your VP but then you said no codes. Well now you have the 0216. (VP death code) Looks like you VP44 is on it's way out. Start saving you money for a new one.
Good luck,
Topper

Thank you... sorry to ask such a silly question but what exactly does VP stand for? I take it that it is some sort of pump. I am still trying to grasp all the abbreviations on this forum! lol. But am learning alot. Thank you.
I am not concerned about the price, I have the money, just want to make sure I have the right thing replaced... what is all involved in this?

No, I have not done anything other than had it scanned and got the p0216 code... so I am under the assumption that that all points directly at the vp44? Should I check fule pressure between the filter and the pump? Thank you for the help.
Thanks for all the help! I have one on order and will get it swapped out...
Now, here is my next question... will that 216 code clear on its own or will I have to have the ecm flashed or somethign to the liking?
