Need Fuel!!!

Need Help! I have a buddy who bought a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 6 speed diesel! In tank fuel pump was bad. Bought a Holley Blue inline electric pump and installed inline on frame. This pump has 14psi. Ran great for about 4 days and started not wanting to take fuel. Took the old pump out of the tank and cleaned tank. Took the pump off the module and ran a new rubber hose as a pickup tube and reinstalled tank. Truck ran good for a day. Now truck has trouble taking fuel when you first take off. after it clears up it throws you back in the seat, and runs good till you shut it off and try it again. If truck is in sixth gear and i get down to 45 mph it will not take fuel. You have to drop back down into fifth to get it to take it again. Help!!

Is there a filter before the pump ?- maybe you are getting junk in the pump. Also check - or change the main filter and be sure the air is bled out.

Do you have a fuel gauge attached between the filter and the IP? If not you may not have enough pressure at the IP.-- filter could be plugged.

Unless he has a Draw Straw 2 I do not think the Holley can draw fuel through the in tank pump. This could be the cause of the trouble.

It may have been able to push 14 psi, but not the volume, and killed the IP. So, the pump not being able to suck well, coupled with the fact that the in tank pump cannot be drawn through probably means he toasted the IP.
