Paint jobs - either they are done right and cost 1 - 2K at least, or they are cheap, poorly performed and cost around $500. As for exhausts, and mudflaps, the mecahanical condition of the truck matter quite a bit more than things the owner did to it to make it look neat. Be on the look out for salvage title trucks rebuilt or stolen trucks, and trucks that have traded hands many times. All are indicative of a problem child - one you would rather not get stuck with.

Do some searches on parts replacement costs as well as the costs to upgrade a 12valve verses a 24 valve. And consider trucks from Texas as well, there's good selection, and little if any rust issues.

I bought my first 89 diesel with 100k many dents and a plow in the spring of 98 for 5100.00 my second I bought this summer a 98.5 quadcab 2wd 100k with a little dent in rear quarter and needing a muffler/tailpipe for 6000.00 I would say keep looking since you want to modify it look for flaws where you want to build such as exhaust and other areas.many times a code is a affordable repair but alot of folks get scared away and dealers I know are worried about repair costs so they wholesale it out.including purchase I have a little over 7k in my truck and have drivin 52k with it.Let somebody else eat the depreciation.I recently considered a 3rd gen family deal but some level headed folk here talked me out of it it was similar price with just under 24k.I told my brother 16,000 and he had a deal. Its still for sale.

hey all no need to find trucks for me
my dads buying a 07 6.7 auto!!!! YAY
btw we test drove it and it blew my mind
cant here a thing with the windows up
with the windows down sounds like the 5.9 (newest one)
the guy who let us drive it was new to the diesel rams well just the 6/7 so we didnt know how to turn on the exhaust brake
but the one we looked at was msrp 46.5k really nice it was a quad cab we dont need a mega cab
and another thing these are so high off the ground!
also in 3yrs when i graduate tech school (goin for machine toolist if u want to know) he'll pass it down to me for free
he spoiled me lol
all i gotta say is AWSOME JOB CUMMINS AND DODGE U DID A MORE THAN FINE JOB
the only thing was that it wasnt getting good mileage at all 11.4 but it only had 26 miles
ill post more later
