LP louder than normal
LP louder than normal
When I bump the starter to make sure the LP motor is running it seems that it is much louder than normal. Since I found this site I have become very worried about the LP problems. I have 135000 on original VP and LP. Any advice would be appreciaeted.
If you're just driving to the mall and back, you at least a FP gauge. If you're doing any kind of serious towing, you need to add a pyro and boost gauge. I got the kit and mounted them on the "A" pillar where I can keep my eye on them. And I would suggest filling in your signature line with all the data on your truck so we know exactly what you've got.
My last lp made very little noise.
The one I installed this morning is quite loud compared to the other one.
My old one never did have much pressure,
My new one is pegging my 15psi guage enough so that I may take the guage off because I'm afraid something may spring a leak (how, I don't know, maybe someone else will chime in and tell us.),. It starts as easy as before, but I'm afraid the added pressure may not be something the VP44 is used to.
Bummer, I hate all this stressing out....And I still haven't jigged my KDP.

I can't help you with the noise issue...never could hear it over the engine. But when I replaced my LP with a new one from the Cummins dealer last year, it sits right at 14 1/2 psi at idle, which as I understand it from this forum, is right where it is supposed to be. Hope this helps...maybe someone else can address the noise issue for you.
Let me correct my last post.
After driving 50 miles this morning and breaking in my new lift pump, The pressure is now down around 12 (Maybe a tiny bit more.) at idle and no longer pegging the needle. There must be a slight break in period..

Mine (LP) has been a loud "rattle" lately as well. It took a dump on me saturday. Mechanic said it should Humm a bit, not growl or rattle like mine was. It was still working but not good at all!
