LP leaking

LP leaking
I installed the Carter 4601HP in line with my lift pump yesterday. I used a relay and tapped the LP power signal.
When I turned on the ignition my FP went passed 30 and when engine started it died immediately. Fuel was shooting out the top side of the LP.
I assume the LP blew a gasket??
Anyone had this happen??
should I have bypassed the LP?
