how come my new campaign pump only puts out 10 psi at idle? (i installed two side by side on the frame to replace the two carter 7 psi pumps)
i had both 7 psi pumps running at the same time but i lost power to them, so i installed the campaign pumps in their place. i wired one with the factory plug..... if it fails , i just unplug it and plug the other one in.... i get the same pressure with both

I have the same pump, except just one, I get about 14 at idle.

Just wondering if having two hooked up is causing a restriction by having to pump through one that isn't running.

Try powering them both???

you know I didn't hear you say any thing about using any relays to turn the pumps on You shoud do that It will make a but of diffrence giving full battery power to the pump/pumps in your case. oh ya and it didn't want to admit it on here but I had my last campaign pump fail in less than 6 months, i finaly addmited it when the truck needed a tow home. thats when I installed a walbro pump.

Might depend on how you have that plumbed. If you don't have some type of backflow prevention in place (if plumbed in parallel) it could be creating a problem. If you're pushing/pulling through one pump (plumbed in series) you have a big restriction in the system.

that is a distinct possibility, i think i'll power up the other one on the same circuit. with no relay.... will the ecu handle it?

Same story for me. The last two lift pumps I had were directly from cummins and neither would give me much more than 10 - 11 psi fresh out of the box. Walbro 392 solved the problem.
