Lower idle speed

Has anyone ever found a way to lower the idle speed on a 24v? I rarely idle and see no reason for the extra noise. I know not to mess with the apps but can cummins lower too perhaps 600rpms I think that would be most pleasant.

I know there is a way. I know a guy who works for Cummins itself and he told me I should do it and that he knew how, but i never have followed through with the idea. I think I might though.

I know they are two different beasts, but after my IP conversion, the truck was idling at 700. It felt smooth, but didn't sound like it. Had a lope (but much nicer than the one from the HRVP). I brought the idle up to 850 just like it was with the VP. Its not any noisier, but it sounds smoother.

Well fellows how did you, or how are you planning to do this? I'd really like to know.

Interesting note.

Not to get wway off subject, but this is my first diesel and noticed that the rpm's jump around (very consistantly I might add) at idle. Is this normal?

I never really worried about it since I am still learning the nature of the beast since I have not had it that long, and it runs really well. I was just curious if this was normal behavier since a gasoline engine idles really smooth.

OK. I usually have the a/c on. Here in Texas it gets hot, otherwise I have the a/c on just to de-humidify the cabin.

Thx
