Can you lower the idle rpm on a 24V???
Can you lower the idle rpm on a 24V???
I've got a 24V 98.5 auto2wd.
I believe it idles close to 900, I am not comfortable with that, I would rather have it at 700 or 750.
There has got to be a way to put it where you want it. I assume they have it idle like that for more complete burning smog reasons, and not for one of those "it's better on the motor" reasons.. All our farm equipment idles much lower than that. Probably 600 or 700 rpm.
OK<
Any idea's I would appreciate it.

The idle is set at 850 rpm and not adjustable, any attempt to adjust apps will damage the calibration of the sensor, requiring replacement. from the service manual. the apps is an expensive item.
I have looked and looked for that thread and can't find it.
I've also searched the web with no luck. I know the answer has to be out there somewhere. Where are the guys that made it idle by way of ecu anyway???
I am sure the some smart dude could truck one into idling at a reasonable level, but maybe you have to buy some big fancy box or something to do that.

My bet is the ECM controls the idle, not the APPS. The ECM gets the signal from the APPS saying the driver is not pushing the pedal. ECM sees this and maintains idle speed. You would most likely have to get into the ECM with programming software and find and adjust the idle speed.
I seem to remember a while back a post where someone said the idle speed was set at 850 by Dodge for vibration issues.

I have a 99 Freightliner with a ISB and its idle speed is 700 rpm and it feels fine idling at that speed and does not stall. There is a switch on the dash that will let me increase the idle speed in 25 rpm increments all the way up to 975 rpm.
