low water light & Eng Prot light

I don't have a truck but a motorhome with a Cummins 5.9, 275HP, 3060 Allison. When I am on the road my 'low water' light comes on. All fluids are at correct levels. In addition when climbing steep hills my temp guage goes from the "R' in "NORMAL" to the "A" in "NORMAL" and then the "ENG PROT" light comes on. When I reach the top and level out the temp goes back to it's regular position and the "ENG PROT" light goes out. The "low water' light goes on whenever it feels like it. Doesn't have to be climbing and temp is OK.
I can't find info on what the "ENG PROT" light signifies.
I feel the "low water" light might be a faulty sensor. Where is this sensor located?
Any other ideas?
Thanks
D I C K ( I spaced my name out because the forum censored it when I did it normally )

Might have an air lock in the system. If it's a front engine . Park on a incline and check the fluid level. The air might come out. If it's a rear engine might try backing up the incline???
This trick works on some cars with long rad hoses. [undecided] [undecided]

That Eng Prot light might be telling you to let out of the throtle because the exhaust temp is high. I don't know this for sure but you might want to find out. Do you have an exhaust temp gauge? What about a cat in the exhaust, if so throw it as far as you can. Or at least I would, cause it could be plugged up.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to try and call Freightliner tomorrow and see what they say. (MH is on a Freightliner chassis).
I have been considering an exhaust temp guage but have been procrastinating. May be time to stop and do something.
Never had a diesel before and I'm trying to learn.
D I C K
Http://ackerman.irvamerica.com (site down temporarily)
