When my lift pump died I got two codes, P0148 was one of them. They explained it to me as the computer saw the difference between the readings on the rail. Whether that's correct or not, I can't say for sure. They should be able to clear it, I did with a Smarty.

You may have a bad pressure sensor, I really don't know.

0148 means that the ECM is calling for a certain rail p. and the actual measured rail p. isn't what the ECM is calling for. The actual rail p. may be too high or too low. Common problems that cause this are, in order of most common to least common in my experience
1. Lift pump 2. Fueling box faulty connections
3.FCA 4.Loose connector tube or improperly seated injector
4. Worn out rail pressure relief valve 5. Malfunctioning rail p. sensor
Unhook all fueling boxes and set programming back to stock, then monitor your fuel pressure to rule out the lift pump problem. Lots of times guys have larger injectors with aggressive programming that demands more than the lift pump can supply and you can set this code because the cp3 can get enough fuel when under heavy fueling demands. If you drive the truck like grandpa, do you still get the code? If not this may be the problem. Jay

Could be a rail sensor, mine did that for a while and my Rail Psi was doing wacky things, but this was after a injector swap. I went in and found an injector tube was torqued right. Retorqued it and fixed it, but since your stock Id check your rail sensor. Do you have gauges?
