low power-intercooler

My wife hairlipped her truck on a little red car that stopped faster than her truck and trailer could, about a month ago. I crawled up under it and looked it over. The trans. cooler took a pretty good mashin but has never leaked a drop of oil as far as I know. So, naturally I figure every thing is good to go, except for a few wrinkles, right? I drover her truck the other day, pullin a trailer and it would barely get out of it's own way, just sick. Anyhow mechanic found intercooler had a couple of leaks in it. 800 for it and 400 for labor So, I'm gonna do it myself. Has anyone, or does anyone know a good place for me to get one(other than Dodge)if hers cant be fixed?

Keep an eye on E-bay and the classifieds. I have seen several a lot cheeper than that.

Since it's an air-to-air intercooler (correct me if I'm wrong), it should be a matter of unbolting and replacing it and bolting the new one back in. The thing looks pretty heavy though.

If you have a freind at a dealer like I do. ;D They will replace intercoolers if the have just a few dents of a broken nipple on the botome of them. When a truck comes in from a wreck with a broken mount or nipple they will replace it because it if it under insurance work. I can get them for 50 bucks most times. I admit they are hard to come buy but sometimes I can get them.<br>DM01

Re:low power-intercooler

Update on my situation. So far, so good.Small stress crack in tank(?) from the wreck. Took it to my radiator man, 20 bucks and got it on the road about two hours ago. SOTP impression is that it MIGHT run a little better. Wife says it definitely does, we'll see. Beats their 1200 dollar quote by a long shot ;D Took my 16 yr old son and me about six and a half hours total, but we done a lot of yakking and cuttin up. Granny came out to visit and bring us drinks, etc. Not too bad a job, saved money and had fun to boot 8)
