Angry low gear

just bought 2002 2500 diesel transmission changes gears when its in low gear,also no over drive

The transmissions are designed to change gear from the factory.

Please explain the issue and the vehicle in question better.
Changes gear when in 1 or in low range with a 4x4 truck?
Auto truck, I assume?

Please more info on the truck and issue if you want the best advise.

ok truck 2002 ram 2500 automatic should the tranny change gears when you put it into low gear it shifts at about 8-10 miles per hour.thanks for any help'

I repeat....

Low gear in the auto, as in First?
Or are you talking when your in D in the transmission and, using low gear in the T-case?

Are you sure the shifter lever on the steering column, is adjusted correctly?

I have seen many old trucks that have the shift indicator on the dash read different than what the transmission is in.

I.E a truck that says it is in 1 gear but actually is in 2 or D.

Not shifting in to OD, could be several issues.
Bad computer, bad wire plug in connection [or just not connected], bad sensor, transmission fluid too hot.
