After much trouble getting the truck to start after changing
out my lift pump (that was only 3 months old) Iwas quite
aggitated Truck would not start no matter what. I had the
wife in the truck bumping the starer ,but the system was "airlocked".
I tried cracking every line and nut that I could to bleed/prime the system.
Starting to use words that I hadn't used in a long time. Wife told the
children to stay inside so they didn't hear daddy After an hour I
was ready to give up. Told the wife to bump it one more time while I held
the water drain on the filter housing open ,Heard the pump draw down and she
said the fuel pressure was up to 16 psi, closed drain and told her to crank.
Engine cranked for about 15 seconds and then fired up. Idled for a minute
while I checked all the connections I cracked to make sure they were tight
and didn't leak. Took the truck around the block and then out for a couple
of hard runs. Thats all it took to forget about the problem lift pump and
fall in love all over again Oh yeah, gave the wife a peck on the cheek too
