Unhappy Lost throttle PLEASE HELP

Just got done taking a long road trip. When I got home my truck lost the gas pedal feel. The truck started and ran, but when you push the throttle it wouldn't rev up. I had it towed to my diesel shop to get it fixed. They hooked it up on the computer and it threw couple codes. (they didn't tell me which codes it threw). They cleared the codes and cleaned the battery post and got it working again. They told me that this may just be a temporary fix. Would anybody know what could possibly be wrong??? Is it a sensor??? PLEASE HELP

Could be a couple things, Vp44 or the Apps. Hopefully its the Apps, see if the shop that worked on your truck wrote the codes down. If not next time it happens, which it will, (tomorrow or a couple months from now), cycle your key three times to the on position without starting it and the truck will show you the codes that it threw on the odometer reading. I see that you have a aftermarket lift pump and fuel pressure gauge, what was your fuel PSI? I am leaning towards an Apps, seems like a bunch of guys lately have had problems with the APPS, maybe these APPS have a time limit before they ware out.

Just happened again, I shut truck off and started it. It idled high then it lost the throttle. I disconnected the battery cables to get it to clear out and I got my throttle back. Its sitting back in the diesel shops yard waiting to get worked on again. What exactly is the APPS?? And what am I going to be looking at for a price to get my truck back up and going? I don't think its the vp44 cause its only a year old with only 15,000 miles on the truck since the pump was replaced. And my fuel pressure is reading 15 to 17 psi at idle and 10 to 12 at full throttle.

APPS= Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. It is basically a TPS tell the vp44 how much fuel to put out. i have hear vp44 going out in less then 15,000 miles. But i think its the apps. new mopar one is around $400. do i search on a timbo apps and you could save your self a whole bunch on money. plus its only 3 or 4 bolts to fix

Don't have them install a Cummins APPS in your truck. Instead get one of Timbo's APPS (you can email him, or Geno's sells them as well). You will pay a LOT less, and it seems to be more reliable as well.
Good luck.

here you go. this is timbo's site. you can contact him regarding your issue for further assistance.

order his apps, limp your truck home from the shop, and do it yourself . . . save some coin.

Sounds like the classic dead pedal to me. VP44's will act like that. Mine acted up for a good 6 months.
