Looking for some info swapping parts from 01 onto 99
Ok guys, so it’s looking like I finally be able to do a manual swap into my truck. The donor is an 01.x, 6 speed HO. Everything is there except for the front clip. Recipient is my 99.
I’ve got a few questions though. Anyone ever swapped in the electrical stuff from an 01? It has the heated leather seats which are going in to replace my non heated leather seats. I’ll have all the wiring to swap, the controls, the seats etc… The entire interior from the donor is going to be installed into my truck.
Anyone have an idea on how easy the electrical stuff should be? Is it a matter of hooking all the wiring up to the correct portions of the under hood fuse panel and the fuse panel in by the door? Swapping fuse panels too?
I have no choice but to swap everything from the 01, since my passenger seat is all non-electric.
I’ll also be swapping both of the axles from the 01 into my 99, the 6 speed, transfer case, etc…Also hoping to upgrade the front end to 3rd gen brakes. Talk about a hybrid! In the end though, I’ll have the truck I’ve always wanted with all the extra options I wasn’t able to find. Should be able to do this free and clear too after selling all the extra parts and pull offs from my truck.
Not really looking to beat a dead horse here because I’m pretty sure it’s all very easy to do in the scheme of things, and I’ll have everything I need.
More worried about the nitty gritty details of “oops, that won’t work there!”
Any extra info you feel might help would be GREATLY appreciated too!
Thanks,
Shawn

It's a salvage + non rebuiladable title.
What sort of PCM compatibility issues? I'd be selling the motor from the salvage truck, trans from my truck, xfer case from my truck, etc... The only electrical stuff would be switching the wiring over for the seats, roof lights, and fancy features I choose to install.
With the two trucks side by side the best I can figure is that the 6 speed should swap right in. Only issue I *may* have is the speedo, but I'm not even sure on that.

Well, I wish I could be of more help but I believe you may want to use the manual PCM when doing the tranny swap. I wish I could tell if you had to or not. The problem with the PCM's that I'm not sure about is since BUS communications changed significantly in 01, I'm just not sure if an 01 PCM will work properly in a 99 truck. I think the best thing to do would be to find out if the auto PCM will function OK without having a transmission to control. I know there is a way. The best way might be to simply get a 99 manual PCM. Hopefully someone else will chime in with better info.
Well, bringing this back up because it looks like this is really going to happen. Trans, xfer case, and axles are gonna be easy. Haven't figured out the electrical aspect for the seats yet, and I'm looking into the PCM for transmission issue. Will post back as I know a little more. Also gotta figure out if I can switch the interior colored plastic piece on the airbag as the truck I'm gonna buy is a diff. color with bags deployed.
I think even without swapping wiring, there are only 2 wires to power the seats, at least on mine there is, I'm willing to bet if you fish around under your 99 you will find the plug/wiring already there.
Mine does not have heated seats, but the electic part will be quite simple

It's got high, low off controlled through two buttons. Push one button it turns on, push the same button it turns off. To change heat levels to just push the other button, and push that same button to turn off. Also resets itself when it loses power and defaults to off the next time the vehicle is turned on.
