long trip/leaking axle seal

Getting ready to head out for NC in the morning to get my 25 yr old mare and 4 month old foal. Front passenger axle seal has started leaking, just noticed it tonight. My truck sits now more than it ever has w/ 100 mile one way drive to work ( yep, driving a car). SO, is it safe to drive all that way? It's just wet- gear oil leaks always look bigger- no drips.

I have had that problem with my old 97. It will be alright to drive, like you said "it always looks worse than it is." Just check the fluid level and you should be fine, just keep an eye on it. Good luck.

Well I would check it before you leave for the trip and check it offen in the trip. More than likely you will be safe with it. Care a extra quart of gear Lube with you to just it case!

Left Thursday and got back last night. It's leaking worse now and only added 1 big squirt of gear oil. Just something else to fix.

Well it goes to prove that a good Dodge won't let you down! If it was a FORD you could of been walking!

I agree.

I left at 4 am on thursday and got to Mount Airy, NC Friday night at 8 pm. Left NC at 8 am on Sat and got home Sunday night at midnight. Averaged 14.23 miles/gallon and used 1 qt of oil.
