Long Life
i am new to the world of CTD. and have to say that i love these trucks i can't put my finger on them why but i do. and i have been reading through this website for a few months now. looking to see what info you guys throw out there. all of witch is very helpful. but no where can i find a list telling me what i should do to my truck to make it last as long as possible. i know there are alot of posts about the faults of the trucks and how to fix them but none that tell us new folk how to prevent most of them. i know there has to be some steps that us new guys can take to make our truck live forever or as close as possible. any info will help!
thanks

All of the above, and a fuel pressure gauge would be good too. Lets you keep an eye on the lift pump in case it decides to go out. That'll keep you from hurting the injection pump that costs a good bit of $$ to replace. Wouldn't hurt to get a boost and EGT gauge at the same time.
As suggested use the maintance manual as your guide. In addition do not try to buy the cheapest parts instead look here and do your research for the parts that get the best reviews. If you live in an area where winters are hard and they use salt on roads make sure a good bath udercarraige and down through the doors. Also make sure drain holes are free.Replace suspension parts with high quality parts that have zirk fittings. Be your own warranty station and learn to service your own truck others will take shortcuts. Best of luck and keep lurking here you will learn many things.
