Alternator noise will do it also. I had the issue, did all the fixes, but what finally stopped it was a good cleaning of the alternator insides. It is a noise issue telling the converter to unlock momentarily. Real common on these. most mechanics, even the dealers will not know how to stop it. i know because my son is one and didn't have a clue. Found the answers right here!

You could just unplug the alternator for a while then stop and plug it back in to recharge the system... im guessing you could go a couple hours before you needed to recharge the batterys..
There's an old post somewhere on this website that addresses the issue. Has to do with grounding out one of the wires in the TPS harness. Had the same problem with my 99 - factory couldn't fix it. Finally made the correction myself and it's been fine for many years now

I had my "Banks" system tell me the samething this weekend while towing my 5th wheel. No OBD 11 code was shown, only the Bank's monitor. The alert finally went away. Forgive me for being old and dumb, but what does "apps" & "tps" stand for. It might repair my problem as well. (don't mean to steal your thread). Thanks.
