so you must remove a peace of the timing gear cover to access the nut and gear. Thank you.

The round part of the breather that the dump hose connects to unscrews from the timing cover giving you access to the 27mm nut.
After removing the drain hose, I just stuck a 3/8 extension in the hole and used it for leverage to unscrew the breather cover.

My bet is continual use of some type of fuel additive, along with always filling up tank before it gets down to 1/4-3/8ths of a tank. If that is in miles(most likely), that's fantastic.

Congrats! That's some serious driving! Even if it's an early 01, that's over 75,000 miles a yr!

when they replaced my VP in '03 under warranty, the new one had a sticker on it that said REBUILT or something like that. The sticker is still there, but it's kind of hard to see unkless you look hard because it's under the apps ....sort of.

Call a dealer and have them run a service history. If it has been replaced under warranty, they will know.

probably more luck than anything. actually ran out of fuel just after i bought it. fuel gauge is not exactly accurate. 1/8 = empty. always use Howes Lubricator. one 1/2 gallon bottle will last me about 8 tankfulls. the truck has been very dependable. engine has had the valves lashed once, numerous lift pumps, and and booster seal. clutch slave/master a couple of times. worst problem has been the entire steering system. if you could keep it tight I would still be towing with it every week instead of the new one
