Vulcan's FASS kit is the one....
Well, I went with the local option.....I contacted Vulcan Performance in Vancouver WA and after talking with the knowledgeable owner there for some minutes, I decided to do the FASS system he has for my 02 for $426.55 COMPLETE. It has a 6 year warranty and comparing that price and completeness of the kit with everything else out there (some have pumps, some don't), along with that 6 years and....well, for the money and warranty, I don' think there's anything out there that can compare. The ONLY drawback for me is that I have to pay the sales tax as I'm in the same state but free shipping sealed the deal. I'll let you know the install details soon as I get it and get on it. The chip is next!! And I see he has a great selection and nice prices on those too!!
well Chuck
that is SOOOOOOO funny...because i just talked to Eric myself today and he convinced me of the EXACT same thing....FASS 95 for 426...the deal sealer was the 6 year.....hell i could go with any of the others walbro, bully dog, BD etc and none match the warrenty.....what if i go with the relocation kit and 6 carter/champ/holly pumps over 6 years....spent more money that way right....
i must say ERIC was awsome he took his time and explained the add/disadvantages of most of the systems out there and then we went over guages and some other items...
its safe to say with a salesmen like that he has worked for my business and will get it on MONDAY.

I called there at their posted number during the afternoon and there was NO ANSWER and after 5 or 6 rings I hung up. A few minutes later my phone rings and it's him (Eric) and asks if I was the one who called Vulcan Performance so he was probably TALKING TO YOU!!!!
I called with the strictest made up mind about buying his other setup that didn't have the pump but, like you, he changed my mind, not with B.S. but with facts and numbers. Two things I like too when trying to make up my mind about something I may not know everything about. I think the warranty sealed the deal for me as I knew I wouldn't spring for the $650 system, no matter what. For what I plan on running, spending that much on the lift pump solution is out of the question. I also liked the part where he says that I won't need anything else to get this up & running, that the kit is COMPLETE. I gave him my last name and told him that as soon as I get off this phone I'm placing the order. Although I told him to send it to me, as Vancouver is a couple of hours away from my place, I've changed my mind (again
) and I'm going to drive down there Saturday and pick it up. Why not? That's going to be a good test for my mileage, with the new tires, valve adjust, etc just being done. I'm also going to take some CASH with me just in case there's some kind of chip he has there for my truck that I can afford after all this fixing & upgrading. Plus I can look at his truck and see how he mounted everything up because I'm a "typical visually oriented guy", according to my girlfriend (tho I don't know why SHE would say THAT...HA!!). Ideally, that new chip would be a 60 hp increase and a 2 - 3 mpg improvement.....IF I can keep my foot out of it. Oh ya....simple. No problem. I hope.
Upon further thought, I don't know if I want him talking to me about any kind of chip or not, what with my mind being made up like before and all....
Good luck with yours and nice talking with you!!
ok chuck....this is almost scarrrrrrrrrry!!!!! lol
i just payed attention to your SIG....i as well worked a deal out on E-bay for my truck...although i worked it to not go through e-bay....i too am in or was in conversation with Eric and he convinced me to go that route....i too am looking at quadzilla for my guage set up although he almost has me convinced to go mechanical...but i probally will stick to the quadzilla.
and as a side note (short story).....i am a MISS PLACED WASHINGTON BOY!!!!!!!....stuck in CALI.
and as well nice chatting with you as well..

It MUST be Deja Vu....
Listen to this. I did my truck deal after the auction (too). I had bid it up but stopped (come to find out at auction's end) $300 shy of the owner/dealers reserve. As I work swingshift, I found out that I was the high bidder (surprise, surprise tho I figured it was going to a new home) when I got back home. I couldn't believe that it wasn't snapped up truthfully as there were quite a few bids. Anyway, I then sent him an email asking what his reserve was and if the truck was still available and then went to bed, not thinking any more of it. His email was waiting for me with his reserve and phone number so the truck could still be got that next morning. I did a quick Car-Fax on the truck, looked over the pictures posted in the auction again, reread Delbert's description, shook my head and dialed his number. We talked for about 20 minutes and that was that. I told him I'll have my credit union do the deal, which was fine by him. Anyway....after buying the truck and getting it here finally and seeing/driving what I got, I called him up last week to thank him for selling me such a good truck and making my "online buying experience"
fulfilling, worthwhile and if not for the wait on the shipping end of the deal, almost pleasurable. I did good even tho I did a technical no-no in Ebay's eyes and did an after the auction deal that basically cuts them out of anything tho I did hear a comment about them and their chunk of the action from his end too. But in the car business I would say that happens frequently as they either don't meet reserve or just don't sell at the listed price. What's the dealer supposed to do?? Hold another auction should he get an offer? Ya right. He was honest in his descriptions and his dealings overall and I wouldn't hesitate on buying another Dodge Cummins from him, this time sight unseen if I had to, I know he's that honest. In fact, when I thanked him he said,"Chuck, sell that blue Dodge to one of your friends and you can upgrade to a real nice 04, 2wd like you have now that I have sitting here ready to go with low miles, white in color, etc, etc. Heck, I could let that one go for about $18800 and some change." OMG!!
Not yet.....I want to enjoy this one for a spell.
Bit it's a thought. Musical Trucks....
I'm picking up my FASS from Eric at Vulcan Saturday about noon. I told him there could possibly be a cash sale at that time IF I see a chip I like, maybe some other goodies too. I'll let you know when I get back home.
You left here and went there?? That's kinda backwards isn't it as I thought half of California was already here?? A one way migration....
Where in WA you from?? I'm between Puyallup & Eatonville on the way to Mt Rainier. I call this area the edge of the rat race and it ain't like it used to be, that's for sure.
I look forward to also being FROM here someday. You aren't missing much.....

Well, I made the 5 hour round trip to see Eric at Vulcan Performance in Vancouver WA and I'M VERY GLAD I drove my truck down there today!! I'm not pleased about what we found but at least I know (thanks to Eric) how to go about fixing the problem.
The problem: my lift pump didn't look like the one he was showing me as it seemed to be missing the bottom bowl part. When I told him mine didn't look like this one, we went out and looked AND SURE ENOUGH my lift pump has been "touched".
It seems that on my truck they've done THE DREADED DEALER SOLUTION, which is to put a pump INSIDE THE FUEL TANK....
After being briefed by Eric on what they were hoping to accomplish with this mod and the price they probably charged the previous owner (unless it was done on warranty) as well as the solution for their solution to the lift pump problem on my truck, not that there's really any problem besides the one they've created that were going to fix, but anyway.....ya I'm confused too.
Seems now I'm going to have to drop my fuel tank, drill an inch and a quarter hole in it up top and install a DRAW STRAW. Then it's reinstall the tank, mount the pump, run the lines and away I go. Thanks to Eric and the spare tank he had out in his parking lot, he showed me exactly how to drop the tank (which has been dropped already so that may go fairly easy), where to drill the hole, what hazards to watch for, tips like making sure the tank is clean after your done but before you mount it, what the assembly looks like inside the tank and everything else he could think of. I feel MUCH BETTER about doing this task as it sounds harder than it's going to be. And again thanks to Eric for having ALL the parts I'll need including one of his prefilters, this one's going to cost me a bit more than what it was originally. I got upgraded biodiesel compatible fuel line (which is NOT included in the stock FASS kit, you get fuel line but it's not bio compatible for some reason. That's a FASS decision, not Eric's), the prefilter, the draw straw kit as well as the same FASS 95gph kit all for the new total of $507 (there goes that chip I was thinking about.
) On the one hand I'm dismayed a bit about this new problem but on the other at least I KNOW how to tackle the more difficult fix. So, I'm trying to use the fuel and get the tank nearly empty so it's easier to handle; so it looks like the big project will happen towards week's end. My friend who also owns a Dodge Cummins, tho a Banks upgraded, updated 92, rode along with me and took notes and offered to give me a hand, so we'll do it over at his shop, rain or shine.
Maybe I'll take my camera along and snap some pics of the tank removal and what we do. If it's worth while and they turn out I'll post some of them along with some comments about doing this project either in a new thread or I'll add it here. WISH ME LUCK EVERYONE as I guess it could be worse......I think.
Comments and suggestions GLADLY accepted.
Thanks!!

When to start worrying????
So I just installed a Quadzilla Recon XZT this weekend and I am monitoring fuel pressure with it. I got the fuel add on right from Quadzilla and it was checked by them to be accurate/calibrated.
At idle, I am seeing 9-10 lbs and at WOT running through the gears I can get it down to 3-4 lbs. So is this a problem????? I have a Smarty programmer on the way.. Is that going to be a problem with this pressure? At what point will the VP44 become damaged? My truck only has 56k miles on it and I am the original owner. I just changed the fuel filter this weekend as well. I have changed the fuel filter often (every oil change) as I work for a filter company and get a good deal on them.
