Lift Pump Question for Luke

I have read that the latest lift pumps from DC for the 24 valve engines are much improved and should hold up without failure for a reasonable length of time.

Do you have any information that would lead you to believe the they have finally got the lift pump fixed for a long service life?

My truck has given no problems with the lift pump and is still going strong after about 45,000 miles.

Anyone else having any information about this, please post it.

Dan

Re:Lift Pump Question for Luke

As much as I would love to tell you things have changed, I don't believe they have. I just had my largest fleet customers last 02' 1-ton he bought before the 03's came out, in the shop last week. I sold it to him in august of this year and it was built in june. It was not performing as well as it was when it was new. It only had 13,000 miles on it but we found insuficient fuel pressure. We replaced the lift pump and the truck ran noticebly better. I don't know what the answer is besides carry an extra lift pump with you : I must say that is the first one we have had in some time, maybe it was just a fluke, who knows ???sorry I couldn't be more comforting to you. :-[

Re:Lift Pump Question for Luke

Some people have gotten many miles out of their pumps, some ( myself included ) have not. These pumps are CHEAP and you are going to have a high failure rate with cheap pumps. I have the same problem at work, the cheaper pumps have to be replaced a lot more often than the better quality pumps. my 2 cts.

No, it was my darn little brother "Ethen" who is 11 years old and when I left work he was playing on the internet last night and he messed something up, how I don't know but it's fixed now. I'm gonna ring his neck >

Re:Lift Pump Question for Luke

I just got a Holley Black in the mail. Buying the swap kit from Rod this Sat. and hopefully putting it in next Sat. My pump has gone from 14.2 when I got it replaced to 11.8-12.0 in about 1000 miles. That's at idle. WOT it's gone from 5 to 7.0. I put all of the banjo bolts in and that made a BIG difference. Truck actually smokes a little with the comp off now. It runs better to. I'm curious to see what it will be like when I get the Holley on there.

Re:Lift Pump Question for Luke

Lift Pump fixed for long service? I seriously doubt it, mine went out in Sept. with 4000 Miles, and the injection pump a very short time later.
