launch shutter???

I had mt fluids changed (oil, front and rear diff, transfer case) by the dodge dealer and now I have noticed a slight shutter for a second or two when i start out from a stop usually only in first gear and sometimes in second but not all the time and seems to be more noticeable when turning but I do notice it sometimes when I am not turning. I am new to diesels so any help would be great.

I have an 01 dodge quad cab 5 speed with 72k miles on it. all stock

thanks in advance
Jared

While it should have zero effect on a straigh ahead take off, a "shudder", especially after a service while turning, would possibly indicate that you have a limited slip differential, and that they may not have installed the friction modifier. There should be a part number listed on your reciept for that.

What J Body said.
Check your reciept and call them.
With 72K there may be some wear on the side gears and thats why your feeling it now without the modifier, the clutches are chattering a bit and amplify the problem.

is there a way check to see if my diff. is a limited slip or not? and is it most likely the back or the front?

and if I do have a limited slip and they did not install the friction modifier is that something I can do my self easily like just adding it or is it more involved than that. Also what is the part number of the stuff I would get to add and in the rear only? or both rear and front?

thanks,

Jared

sounds alot like high spots on the flywheel if it is happening when you are letting the clutch out

I called and had a dealer check my vin and he said that it was a DANA M80 REAR axel and didn't think it was limited slip. so if it is not limited slip could it still have something to do with the rear diff. or does that throw that theory out. I checked the symptom again and it is not only while letting out the clutch and it seems to be only while turning and starting out or traveling very slow.
thanks again

If you look in your glove box at the spec sheet, it will state if you have Posi. You can also look at the bolts that hold the cover on the diff-on the right side there might be a metal tag that says it also.
