Killer Dowell pin on 24 valve 2001?
You can get the whole kit from several aftermarket sources, TST, etc. If you already have a seal, the tab itself is Cummins part number 3958017
I never understood why those bolts aren't safety wired. The locomotive engines I use to work on had all the bolts inside the front and rear covers wired with safety wire so they wouldn't back out. You would think any internal bolts would be wired so they can't back out and cause damage.
There's the real reason....... Man, you should see some of the safety wiring jobs I see on our Bottle Machines, and those are supposedly Journeyman mechanics.
I know if they were safety wired and I didn't do the work myself, the first thing I would do would be to rip the front off and re-do whatever job had been done, unless I knew it had never been apart.
I would hate to see what kind of carnage sending bits of safety wire through would do.......
