Intermittant Dead Pedal - No Codes
Intermittant Dead Pedal - No Codes
During the past two weeks my truck has developed an intermittant dead pedal. I cycled the ignition key three times but no codes appeared other than 0500 (speed sensor). The speedometer and tach both work fine. Fuel pressure is 14-15 @ idle and 13 @ cruise. I'm wondering if the APPS can be malfunctioning despite no codes being shown. The dead pedal events are very short in duration the last being yesterday on the freeway. I was cruising at 65 mph and tried to accelerate but the truck wouldn't go any faster. This situation lasted maybe 4-5 seconds then it responded.
I had the same problem,I suggest doing a mild apps reset, turn off truck, turn key on,push & return pedal slowly to floor once, turn key off and start truck and go.It will be fine for a few days maybe longer,if this does temporarily fix the problem then I would say it's your apps.

Just a thought
Hi there - new guy here just throwing in my 2 cents. I have had similar problem with dead petal, very intermittent. Read alot, and talked to 2 diesel mechanics from dealerships that assured me a bad apps will set a code for you. Not trying to diagnose for you, but sometimes a board problem - usually when it gets hot, can also mess with your advance and create a "dead petal". This is a known issue on the VP44 and Bosch has since made improvements on the rebuilds to address.
I want to thank everyone for the replies. My truck has this intermittant dead pedal even when the engine is completely cold. It happens a lot when I first leave the house in the morning. I have ordered a OBDII code reader and should have it next week. We will see if there are some codes on the PCM and/or ECM that are not showing up in the odometer window.
