Intermitent Fueling Lag

Currently on a trip pulling my 5er and the Ram started to not fuel when I (or the cruse control) call for speeding up. I push on the peddel and nothing for a few seconds. The fuel pressure is good at about 11 to 12. Not sure what the deal is? It then catches and we are good. If it was a gaser I would put a new accelerator pump in the carb.
I have 77,000 miles is all on the 2002
Ideas?

I think the p0216 is related to a failing vp44, but not positive.

Pulled the codes today and sure enough I have the
P0216. Crap!!!!
I never did get any low fuel readings. I have had 14 psi at idle - 10 or 11 psi at road speed and 9 psi at wot.
This continues to be the same even with the code.
Sounds like a new lift pump and injection pump. Man 2500.00 it just kills me.
Any sugestions? I do not think this is a do it youself job. If any one knows of a good place to get this done North of Denver (Thornton Co) Let me know.

My brothers garage. I will be in Firestone, Co in a few weeks. Use Midwest Fuel Injection for the injection pump.
You can do it yourself.

Found this and it has a ton of good information. The cost for their HO pump is more than others but they almost have me talked into spending more to get a better rebuild?

My financer says I have to wait. I want to get the Fass 150 at the same time so I may be looking at 2200.00 or so to get this in myself.
I also found Diesel Dan and his UTUBE of the replacement so I would say that I should be able to do this in my garage
I found now two places that said they had gone over 30,000 miles with the code with no problems?
