Intermitant Tach Reads 0

Tach will intermittantly drop to 0 for a while then pick back up,
Throws codes:
P0500
P1693
P1687

I'm thinking I need to pull out and clean my vehicle speed sensor, the one on top of the pumpkin? Anyone had this combination before?

0500 will trip if you the tires you probably need a new cam sensor or you could have a bad or dirty conection on the back of the gauge cluster

Bump

All has been fine it hasnt acted up much lately, until today. I'll be as descriptive as I can about what all happened.

Right after starting the truck, tachometer worked for about 2 seconds and dropped to zero. I pulled out Only code 1693. As long as the tach was reading zero there was no little puff of black smoke coming out of the tail pipe and the truck felt really doggy. (No I am not talking a bunch of suped up high performance blacking out black smoke, just the little puff you get when you get on it, basically shows the engine is feeding a little fuel to get the turbocharger lit.) After 3-5 minutes of this they tach would pop back on and work normally, the bit of smoke under acceleration came back, truck felt less doggy, etc.

After doing some research I'm thinking it's more than likely my cam sensor on it's way out, But before I go throwing parts at it I thought I'd like to ask some people on here with the latest things its doing.

I also found it interesting that only 1693 code came up instead of the ones that accompanied it earlier this month.

^^^^^tach dropping to zero is the sign of a bad cam sensor.
