Intermintenet TC lockup
Hello, when driving my truck between 45 and 55mph my torque converter will lock and unlock about 15 times a minute. Really pisses me off since I already had it at the shop for this and they said it was a ground issue and they fixed it for awhile I guess. Also already had it reflashed for this problem again. Had one mechanic tell me it was the apps or tps sensor. I tried to run a ground directly from the battery to the pcm or ecm "on the firewall" and it went away for awhile again. Patientence is not something I have alot of and i'm getting to be a very unhappy person so any help would be greatly APPRECIATIVE. Thanks Corey.
p.s. Also just got the edge comp from the ups man and my guages will be here this week,
see what you guys have done. But can't install them till I get this figured out or i'm livel
to hold the go pedal till she blows the next time it acts up.

This is a commom problem caused by electrical noise. You can fix it temporairly by cleaning the battery terminals and the ground connections under the passenger side battery. A permanent fix is to get a noise filter from DTT ( about $40.00 )Call DTT at 1 866 504 4002
Thanks wolfman, I'll have to check into that. I just cleaned the battery connections as well as paralled another set of wires "boy does that help with starting", but didn't do anything under the passenger side battery. I'll try that first.

I have a problem with my APPS and was going to try something like this before I dump 400 bucks on a new APPS.
Just installed new Red Tops and cleaned all of the connections and grounds I could find hoping that this cures the problem.
The filter is a box about the size of a pack of cigarettes with some wires coming out. It is connected to wires going to the PCM ( those three connectors on the firewall just behind the air filter ) You have to unwrap the electrical tape from the wire bundle going to one of those plugs and locate the proper wire and cut it and solder it to the filter wires. This is pretty easy to do if you are not colorblind and have the ability to solder wires. The filter eliminates voltage spikes going to the PCM which controls the TC locking function.
PS: I fought this problem for two years and this filter has worked perfectly since I installed it about eight months ago. It's worth a try.
