Well last friday I returned my lift pump for my credit to my account. No problem at all not even why I was returning the lift pump. So I told them it had 2psi they then said " Well it is only suppose to run when you turn the key, then shut off, the IP has a stron gear pump to pull the fuel from the tank, the Lift pump just primes it. All you guys changing lift pumps have no idea the function of the IP" Well I almost laughed all the way out the door. I was a bit angry, I thought the guys there were fairly knowledgable, well I guess not. Just thought I would share this bit of humor. And as I was walking out the one older gentleman said " make sure you change that lift pump before the warrenty expires, since you young kids like unnecessary labor". I think it is time for a new Cummins Dealer.
Evidently they're getting rich selling multiple pumps during the life of the vehicle and we're not helping them one bit here with our precautions.
Every Cummins/Dodge owner I've talked to locally doesn't know or want to know about keeping one alive....I guess they'll buy more pumps.
