Injector Install? How big of Hammer Required?

Installing bigger injectors, don't seem to want to go all the way in like my manual says, fingers pushing in only, no tools to install.

My replacement injectors were kinda tough to push down too. First I would make sure that the copper washer didn't fall off and is now sitting sideways in the head. I used vasoline to hold the washers on the injector tips. I also used vasoline on the O-ring and a little around the opening on the cylinder head. They were still kinda tight but popped in with a hard push. I wouldn't use a hammer.

Try twisting them a little while pushing down.

You can use one, use a small one like a framing hammer that way you don't hit it too hard all you need to do is tap it, I did on #6 couldn't get leverage to push. Also use the valve cover bolt as something to hit just make sure that it is screwed in good so you don't mess up the threads, also tap on the head of the bolt so you don't scar up the top of your injector.

i'll be doing my install in a couple weeks, how do you release the pressure on the system before taking out the injectors? any other tips for installing injectors? beside the vasoline tricks.

There is no pressure on the injectors when you go to take them out. A couple of tips first on when you go to pull the valve cover some guys say to cut the insulation off so you don't get dirt in the top end. What I did was to take a plastic sheet (or a heavy trash bag) tuck it under the plastic piece where your wipers are and drap it behind your engine. This way you don't have to worry about the dirt or putting the insulation back in. Also when you pull the bolts out of the valve cover clean one really good and the top of the injector is threaded for that size bolt. Screw that into the top of the injector and use a bar or big screw driver to pry them up (I used the rockers for the leverage point you won't hurt them doing it).

Do a search on here for the install a member did a wonderful write up with pictures also. I did the tips only so mine had a few more steps than his did but I still finished in about an hour and a half.

injector and tapped lightly.

For me the hardest part of the whole job was getting the valve cover off and back on. When installing the new injectors make sure you have the port on the injector pointing to the transfer tube. Here is a helpful link:

I used a 1/4" piece of aluminum that I put in the injector slot, then turned them back and forth while pressing down. This made them slide in into the bores.
