Injector cleaner
Injector cleaner
I have noticed lately that my rpms at idle bounce about 1/16 -> 1/32 on the gauge. It did not do this before. Would a typical diesel injector cleaner from Walmart be okay to run and possibly clear up this problem? Hopefully somone has had simialr expieriences.
P.S. It smoked a little bit more than usual today during startup. A constant translucent stream untill it was warm. It had a blueish black tint.
Thanx Ya alll rock.

Its normal. Mine does it. Its a common thing on all second gen Rams. If your idle was truly bouncing you would feel it and hear it.
Injector cleaner? A few good choices I know of are Power Service Diesel Kleen, and Stanadyne Diesel fuel additive.

Automatic Trans Fluid doesn't burn clean and may leave deposits in the combustion chambers.
In addition, it contains friction additives that might not react well with the close tolerences inside the injection pump.
There are plenty of Diesel Fuel additives on the market designed to properly clean & lubricate the injection system.
