Diesel Injector Cleaner
Diesel Injector Cleaner
Just picked up a bottle of Valvoline SynPower
diesel injector cleaner. Its endorsed by Cummins.
Little Cummins logo right on the bottle. ($4.49)
Anyway, have not tried it yet but was wondering
what you guys think of this. My truck has 8,500
miles and have never used any additives yet to
clean the injectors.
Your thoughts???
Thanks

Probably can't hurt although I'm nearing 70,000 miles and I never bought an "injector cleaner" per se. I run full time Stanadyne and I believe it has a cleaner included in it.
I just put a bottle of "Diesel-Kleen" into my truck. It said on the back of the bottle that it's specified by Cummins for their approved diesel injector service.
Their was one other brand that had the Cummins logo on the front that I was considering. I think it might have been the Valvoline SynPower cleaner, but I could be wrong on this. That product said that Cummins was involved in formulating it. However, I liked the description of the Diesel-Kleen product better, which is why I chose it.
I decided to use a cleaner, not because I was having any problems, more for preventive maintenance. Apparently, these HPCR Bosch injectors are more sensitive to contaminants than the older CTDs. I might even upgrade to the 2 micron fuel filter soon.....
