Will it still make the short "buzz" noise when the key is turned forward? I was just wondering about that a second ago.

My buddies did just last week. We could hear it run but not start and ZERO fuel pressure. Could hear it running for the 25 seconds after starter bump and still no pressure. Replaced lift pump and everything is fine.

Yup, the shaft will spin and you'll hear the buzz, the only way to be sure it's pumping is to have a fp gauge.

Another way to see if lp is dead would be to drain your fuel filter canister 2/3 of the way & then bump the starter & see if the fuel filter canister fills back up.
