Question IAT sensor

I have never checked my IAT sensor. I have read several posts saying that the sensor needs to be "checked" if you are running an exhaust brake. What do I need to "check"? Has anyone ever found a problem with theirs?

I run a PacBrake, and yes, you do need to periodically check the IAT. It is located at the left rear of the intake manifold.

What happens, is it gets coated with soot blown back into the intake from running with the brake on.

Remove it, clean it up and re-install it, I do this about once a month with mine.

Do you see any change in the way the truck runs after you clean it?

Nope, but I guess it can't hurt. Have I ever cleaned mine? Yes. There are those that claim their mileage and performance increased as a result of cleaning but I've not seen it with my truck.
