Hydraulic oil in transmission

In the General Information section it states to get better lubrication in the transmission to use either synthetic oil or hydraulic oil. Is any one running hydraulic oil instead of transmission oil?

Hydraulic oil doesn't have additives to protect the electricals, the plastics, the clutch-packs, and the seals in modern automotive automatic transmissions - I'd stick with ATF in syn or standard, or as your rebuilder suggests - f'rinstance, call Dave Goerand, go with what he suggests

Also, don't use ATF in your power steering\hydroboost system - the seals are not compatible, and will soon leak

Thanks for your reply. I did not think that was a solution. How often do we change the synthetic transmission oil?

I agree with not using hydraulic in the trans. It's fine for race cars, but little else.

Synthetic should be changed in the same intervals as dino. It resists shearing and thermal breakdown, but it will eventually become contaminated from the cluth materials ect in the trans.

I use the cheap stuff and change it often.

Wait,
are we talkin' manual or standard transmissions here?
The NV4500 requires synthetic, period (and GL-4 to boot!)
The auto's all require ATF+3 or +4, depending on year. This is a synthetic.
The NV5600 uses Pennzoil Synchromesh, which I think is a dino oil, but can't get a definitive answer on.
The G56 uses ATF+4.
