how much is truck with cracked block worth?

Whats a 1999 xtra cab 4x4 shortbox auto truck with only 175,000kms worth? Its in descent shape with SLT Laramie trim. Is It worth metal stitching?
thanks,
Doug

I wouldn't bother with trying to repair that block. It will crack again and it will crack worse than it did the first time. The money you would spend on Lock and Stitch would go a long ways toward a replacement block. You can find used 24v for between $1000 and $3000 from what I have been able to find. Good luck!

Agreed, cheaper to do it right the first time.

The basic problem is, the truck is really worth more parted out than together ( assuming work is done at close to fair market value )

Thus, the trucks real value as a driver is stupid low, say 1500-2000. The problem with that analogy is you can get far more than that parting it out, so the obvious thing is to part it out.

Without seeing it, around here that truck would bring 6500-8000 depending on condition. If you can drop in your own engine, and have time to wait until you find a fair deal on an engine, I would say you could swing as much as 4K, which is more than it is worth parting out.

TOOOOOO much!!!!! OPS, I see from Canada. The rules for you all seem different. Perhaps a different approach for truck. Really need to get price down under 3000 (I forget the exchange rate and value in BC.) Now if can find a used engine for reasonable price of say 2K you would be in good shape. This assumes body and rest of drive train are in good to excellent condition. Condition is a make or break on deal!!!!!!
