How high are your RPMs at 70mph?
3.54's here ... and a 6 speed. Mine's right at 2,100 to 2,125 rpm at 70 mph in 6th gear. It's hard to say the rpm, because the tick mark intervals are stupid. 2,000 - 2,125 - 2,250 - 2,375 - 2,500 Instead of even 100 rpm increments! At least that's how it is on 2nd gen trucks.
Anyway, at 70 MPH I'm at ~1,800 RPMs. My truck has 3.55's and an auto.
I was a bit off, 70 mph in mine is right at 2,000 rpm. Stock size tires, 6 speed and 3.545454545454545454545 gears.
I left off a few digits, so the gear ratio wouldn't be so inconvenient to look at.

Hmm if some of you fellas are running around 1800 RPM with 3.55 gears(even though they are suppose to be the same). Would that mean us guys that say we have 3.55 by the sticker are running 2000RPM would actually have 3.54 gears?

(Chris = PITA
)I've had all 3 tranny's in both of my trucks (had NV4500, and NV5600 in my 95, and auto in the 98, both 3.55's)
The 5spd was about 70mph at 2000, the 6spd is about 1900RPM at 70mph, and the Auto is 1825 at 70mph...all 235/85R16 Tires!
I just took off my 35" 19.5's and the Auto and "laggy" charger is MUCH happier spinning the 235/85R16's. Cruising RPM went up about 150RPM, and it is a whole lot more responsive...of course my 19.5's weighed about 140lb each vs. 40-50lb 235's!
