How does Dead pedal
How does Dead pedal
Guess MY IP is going bad or is bad, I get Dead pedal 20 times daily, but how come sometimes it works and sometimes doesnt??? Why can I simply push in the clutch and let the idle go down and reset and back to power again. If the IP was bad how does it work again for momentary.

i wouldn't condemn the IP yet, it might be the APPS going bad
the symptoms are right
When my IP went, I also had the dead pedal issues and would regain power if I let off the throttle. I never had the check engine light come on. Upon pulling the codes I found the 0216
. If you haven't done so, pull your codes.

Yes, pull the codes.... the MIL does not always come on when the 0216 code sets. You only get a light if the vehicle was built to be a CARB compliant vehicle.
From the list of codes in the service manual, the death code is listed as: P0216(M)... with the following note.
(M) Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated during engine operation if this DTC was recorded
(depending if required by CARB and/or EPA). MIL is displayed as an engine icon on instrument panel.
When my VP44 died, I had the 0216 code stored, but no MIL. When I took the truck to Cummins, their Insight software showed that the ECU logged the 0216 code 58 times.

can the typical auto zone pull codes trustfully or should I take it to a cummins shop---both are just as close...also I replaced the apps many months ago to fix a problem with the throttle where some times while I was driving the throttle would go completly out and the check engine light would come on, except for about 1/4 of the first push of the pedal and the engine would rev up real fast but nothing after that. I havnt had that problem since except for dead pedal. I can go down the road and cruise about 60 mph, but the engine will do nothing after that untill I reset it.
Has anybody replaced the IP and still have dead pedal??
